ADOR and SEMOR are French-based artists, who like telling stories with a vocabulary of their own making. Taken directly from their expanding context, extracts are oriented and their selection is precise. Whether one uses one’s own language or attempts to make elementary communication, their weekly meetings are the occasion to link and compare elements: indeed no one is spared. Ador and Semor’s logic demands to be projected and is an invitation to tell stories in this, an era rich in exceptional phenomena.
ADOR’s work is a unique vocabulary with characters and objects. He used to pick up things in his surroundings, and ideas he found in the streets – current events or topical subjects. The idea is to show pictures between serious and distorted with satire. His vision is to have people interpret pictures in different ways. Telling stories and asking questions is his motive from the beginning. He just lets the characters talk – bringing together opposites and letting them live within the same space.
SEMOR’s work is influenced by deteriorating buildings, areas in construction, makeshift huts and abandoned scrap in the streets. These are example of elements in his compositions that are created without the influence of people, and are used in his work because of the lines and the rhythmic nature that appears in it. Lead by an automatic drawing style, which often command his compositions, lines are organized to create chaotic graphics systems. His work crosses over from architecture, object, scene, and abstract through defined lines which help to segment or link the subjects. Semor uses the idea of labyrinth to confluence different shapes which distort space and time. All those imaginary pictures serve as a pretext for different interpretation.
A few months ago, Ador and Semor visited Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco to paint murals and to held pop-up shows at the Vertical Gallery and Rocha Art Gallery.
