This colorful mural is created by Ukrainian artist Dima FATUM and organised by ArtUnitedUS is a surreal picture-story about historical and contemporary context of the Kharkov Residential Area, one of the largest “sleeping” (residential) areas of the city of Kiev. This work is curated by Geo Leros and Iryna Kanishcheva.

About the Mural
The composition is filled with many characters, including a variety of Ukrainian traditional characters, each of which illustrates an era of the Russian aristocracy.

Among others we find the face of Taras Shevchenko, a Ukrainian poet, writer, artist, public and political figure, as well as folklorist and ethnographer. Shevchenko is also known for many masterpieces as a painter and an illustrator. We also find petroglyphs and a series of creatures, including trees that seem to look like Boyars, members of the highest rank of the feudal Bulgarian, Moscovian, Ruthenian (Ukraine and Belarus), Wallachian, and Moldavian aristocracies. The result is a colorful, and interesting fairytale that invites us to reflect on its meaning and relevance.
