The Swiss duo NEVERCREW recently visited Jena, Germany to create a mural for the Home in Winzerla project. Promoted by the city and curated by Gruppe F, the new work titled “Adjustable Stance” touches upon local and global cohabitation.

About the Mural

“Adjustable Stance” explores the notion and relationship between local and global, and the artists cleverly used the opportunity to adapt some of the local wildlife into the concept. For anyone familiar with NEVERCREW’s murals, they generally create variations of their iconic whale and bear images. However, for their new piece in Winzela, Jena, they painted a squirrel along the 4 story building and used blue and white hues, each color covering half of the furry animal. One might assume that this was done to depict the cohabitation of local and global.

About NEVERCREW

NEVERCREW is a Swiss street-artist duo, Christian Rebecchi and Pablo Togni. Since 1996 they have been creating murals, sculptures and installations. As animal activists, their work observes endangered species illustrated by painting whales or polar bears trapped/destroyed by the human attitude.

This path led NEVERCREW to develop their current approach and to create artworks in cities all over the world.
