The world-known Italian artist Agostino Iacurci just finished his large-scale mural in Kiev, Ukraine as a part of the Mural Social Club Festival. The title of the artwork is ‘Water, please”.
The recent mural is a part of Iacurci’s series of new interventions depicting “Still lives”. The painting represents a classical subject of still life with an indoor plant transposed on an exterior public wall in an oversized scale.
“The work has been inspired by the reading of the blog “Another Ukraine”, which describes unexpected and non-stereotyped elements of culture and nature of Ukraine, for example its flora, that features a wide variety of plants coming from all over the world and able to adapt to different parts of its territory”, Agostino explains.
Agostino Iacurci was born in Foggia in 1986, he lives and works in Rome. In his works of synthetic forms and bright colors, through an essential language, he is capable of driving multiple layers of interpretation. This approach places his tales on the perennial threshold between innocence and artifice, serenity and catastrophe, in a magnetic tension that is the interpretive key to our very existence.
The Mural Social Club Festival is organized by NGO Sky Art Foundation and Dmytro Palienko, curated by Oleg Sosnov and Julia Ostrovska.
The festival line-up includes top street art names, all of whom are coming to Ukraine to decorate the cities with their artwork: Li-Hill, Rodrigo Branco, Fintan Magee, Borondo, Fikos Antonios, Agostino Iacurci, Telmo & Miel and others. Ukrainian street artists such as Aec Interesni Kazki, Roman Minin, Sergey Radkevich, Sasha Korban will also participate part in the project.
