Boa Mistura Unveils a new Mural in Lodz.

The urban art initiative Lodz Murals, which is founded and curated by Michał Bieżyński, invited Boa Mistura to add more vibrant colors to a city that has seen its fare share of street art.

BOA MISTURABoa Mistura, who are from Spain, usually use very bright, vibrant and warm colors. Their work is very diverse. They combine graphical forms with very legible typography. They work with the local context, using different symbols, motives and stories related to the identity of the chosen area.

The mural, entitled “Life Is A State Of Mind”, was painted using 105 colors on the 600 m2 wall, exposing the phrase “Życie jest stamen umysłu” (“Life is a state of mind”), which is a quote taken from the book “Being there” written by Jerzy Kosiński, a famous writer from Lodz, in 1971.

About the concept of the mural, Boa Mistura said: “Life is subjective. From the roots of the past, and the seeds of the present, there’s a future that is born, it grows and blooms among us, and shapes us. That’s why we imagine two faces, under the same sky. Between them, a world over-loaded with life flourishes. It expands, invades us, inspires us and brings us to a world in which our thoughts know no limits. To represent this vegetative world we used, as reference, national floral species. This way, we are making a tribute to the words of the poet through the most basic part that is the town that saw him born”.
