Vittoria Benzine Vittoria Benzine December 23, 2019

Either way, the experience of any one place is different for every person inhabiting that place. Rankings like those provided by US News incorporate metrics considering cost …

Think Of Others
by Mahmoud Darwish

As you prepare your breakfast, think of others
(do not forget the pigeon’s food).
As you conduct your wars, think of others
(do not forget those who seek peace).
As you pay your water bill, think of others
(those who are nursed by clouds).
As you return home, to your home, think of others
(do not forget the people of the camps).
As you sleep and count the stars, think of others
(those who have nowhere to sleep).
As you liberate yourself in metaphor, think of others
(those who have lost the right to speak).
As you think of others far away, think of yourself
(say: “If only I were a candle in the dark”). 🕯️🕊️📢

@artists4ceasefire : “Repost In honor of all those working to end the suffering and oppression of others — in Palestine, Israel, and around the world — and as an invitation to those who have yet to speak out we share Mahmoud Darwish’s poem, “Think Of Others,” read by human rights champion, actor, and Artist4Ceasefire Richard Gere.

Pope Francis embodied Darwish’s poem by dedicating his life to deep empathy and compassionate action for all who suffer. He called upon us to think about and care for one another, without exception.

In his passing, we renew our commitment to center love in the protection of our shared humanity, and to do all we can to help achieve a permanent ceasefire, the release of all hostages, and an end to the blockade on lifesaving aid to civilians in Gaza.

We stand for the well-being of all people, the protection of our fragile planet, and a just and lasting peace, everywhere.” @artists4ceasefire

“Is there anger in you?”

That’s what they asked Basquiat in a 1985 interview for the UK series State of the Art.
His answer: silence.

A pause so powerful it echoed louder than words.
A silence that has since been interpreted in many ways—as resistance, fatigue, complexity, or just refusal to play along.

In 1985, Basquiat was at a turning point: critically acclaimed, highly visible, and deeply conflicted.
He was navigating fame, the art market, personal struggles—and the endless attempts to define

Basquiat transformed rage, frustration, and injustice into color, line, and symbol.
His silence wasn’t absence—it was a statement.
A refusal to be boxed in or simplified.
A moment that, like his work, demanded to be felt, not just understood.

Still today, his voice resonates—raw, urgent, and painfully relevant.

What emotions do you feel when watching that moment?

Today is Easter Sunday. A day that marks the resur Today is Easter Sunday. A day that marks the resurrection of Jesus—the story of an innocent man, beaten, humiliated, and nailed to a cross in front of a silent, complicit crowd. And yet, we call this day holy. We call it sacred. We dress in pastels, go to brunch, and speak of redemption and light. But how can we speak of resurrection when so many children are being crucified in real time?...
