Portuguese artist Pantonio recently painted a school facade for the social project Mural Social Club: Back to school! in Cherkasy, Ukraine.
The artist Antonio Carreira, more known as Pantonio, spent 4 days in Ukraine to paint a new mural on the facade of the city school. The large-scale wall depicts, with the typical style of the artist, a flock of swallows that fly freely in the sky. The artist compares children’s game with the flying swallows, because it is as informal, free from burdening thoughts and not restrained with limits of severe reality.
Pantonio added: “For me the white lines are rules and support/columns. Not a bad thing, just the school teaches the rules to learn how to maneuver it…”
The Creation of the mural on the façade of Cherkasy school #15, which is the third large-scale work of the social project, became possible due to Portugal Embassy in Ukraine and was partly financed from the funds, raised at the charitable sport festival “CherlTy 2016”.
Antonio Carreira, also known as Pantonio, is a Portuguese artist who comes from the Azores islands. Pantonio is one of the most prolific and influential artists of the street art scene in Lisbon.
Through his works, he awakens in people’s imagination a new world full of fantastic animals. The works of Pantonio also deliver messages filled with social meaning. His graphic style is easily identifiable thanks to the dominant colors blue and black.
