British artist My Dog Sighs wrapped up his trip to Rome, leaving behind him 540 of his iconic eyes scattered on an old hospital wall in the Trastevere district.  This mural kicked off the second edition of the Forgotten Project.

About The Mural

Titled “I still remember how it was before“, My Dog Sighs’ latest work was painted on the surrounding structure of an old hospital in Rome, following the theme of the Forgotten Project which is to bring attention to buildings that are otherwise ignored.
In preparation for the mural the artist did some research on the architectural, anthropological and social aspects of the building and its transformations over time, and did an open call in order to collect photos of local people who had stories connected with the hospital, and of whom he draw the silhouettes into the reflections in the eyes.
“Every eye tells the story of the community and of the place that has taken care of each of them. Forgotten Project is an interesting project and to paint the wall I had to understand both the location and the local community first” My Dog Sighs said.

This work has also been reproduced on paper, with a limited edition series of serigraphs hand-finished by the artist. The serigraphs, available on the site of the Forgotten Project, will help to finance the project.

About The Artist

My Dog Sighs is an Artist based on the south coast of the U.K. His style is characterized by the combination of melancholic, and often naive portraiture, with the use of found materials including abandoned food cans; an unusual choice when considering traditional street art  ideas of painting or pasted walls. Initially, stemming from the desire to interact with true public without causing permanent damage to public and private property. After 10 years of giving his art away for free as part of the now infamous “Free Art Friday” project, My Dog Sighs has finally found himself strapped in to a well-deserved meteoric rise. With international following, and 3 sold out shows, the artist is fast becoming an important figure on the contemporary art scene.

About Forgotten Project

Forgotten is an urban project born in 2015 in the purpose of giving more value to the architectural heritage of the contemporary city center of Rome through street art. The main goal of the project is to bring attention on some buildings though artistic interventions.

In each edition Forgotten chooses artists  from a given country, who have never worked in Rome, and asks them to develop their artworks on the forgotten buildings. For this second edition Forgotten has chosen artists for the United Kingdom including Dan Kitchener,  Lucy McLauchlan, My Dog Sighs and Phlegm, who are going to create their first urban artwork in Rome.

The project involves several associations from the different neighborhoods where it is operating and is supported by various institutions, both local and international.
