Sebas Velasco presents ‘A New Error’ his debut London showcase featuring new original works on canvas and wood, produced by London based creative director Charlotte Pyatt. The exhibition takes its name from the German band Moderat, #anewerror alludes to both the painters process of constant adaption, while considering the future of these often cold and brutal vista’s.

Over the last few years, Sebas Velasco has identified himself among the great documentarians of the transitional countries of Eastern Europe. With frequent visits to countries of former Yugoslavia, Poland, Hungary or Ukraine; Velasco observes the shifting relationship between the urban environment and economical/political structures.

“The works are inspired by the freedom of travel and the isolation we all shared the past year, with artists adapting their process to painting at home. The iconic structures are juxtaposed with scenes I came across in transit, just getting lost in a country, stumbling across a village or moment in the final hours of daylight. A romantic view of the journey and process, rather than outcome. Others are very small creations, studies I produced while in lockdown “ – Sebas Velasco

“A New Error” will also see the debut release of a Sebas Velasco limited edition silkscreen print, based on an original painting on Friday 8th October 3pm GMT.

Saturday 16th October we are also proud to present Jaime Velasco, the cousin of Sebas Velasco for a one night only bespoke acoustic set! Jaime is an award winning Spanish guitarist and composer, drawing inspiration from pop culture, Impressionism to sinfonic tradition. He has performed in concert around the world and we are so delighted to welcome him. Tickets are free but seats will be very limited and so you must RSVP.

Concrete utopias have come to identify Velasco’s work, Indestructible, brutalist structures, become poetic narratives speaking to both the past and the present. This new body of work showcases his classic architectural structures and portraits, with variation in colour and scale. His unusual play of light, whether in stark daylight or the dead of night continues to disturb and illuminate the characters that make up his urban realities.

‘A New Error’ will open on 14th October 2021 with a private reception on 13th October 6:30 – 10:00.
