The iranian artist duo, ICY and SOT, two brothers based in Brooklyn, New York recently surprised Wall Street with an impromptu installation featuring a giant wad of crumpled cash. The car-sized wadded-up $1 bill popped up in the Financial District last weekend, ironically after the GOP Tax Reform Bill which President Trump signed into law earlier this year.

About the Installation

The $1 dollar bill sculpture, as though crumpled by a massive hand and dropped  in the heart of Wall Street represents the greed and volatility of capitalism.
Installed last weekend on Sunday morning, the artists felt there was no better location to highlight how corrupt our government has become.
“We felt it was good timing because of Trump’s tax cut, It’s not fair that wealthy people are going to benefit from it, and middle-class, hard working people will not. Trump’s tax cut winner will be Wall street, the heart of capitalism.” Icy and Sot.

About the Artists

ICY and SOT are artists from Tabriz, Iran. The two brothers started doing stencils in 2006, and have become major contributors to the Iranian and international urban art culture. Through their murals, videos and installations that depict human rights, capitalism, ecological justice, social and political issues, their work appears on walls and galleries throughout Iran, USA, Germany, China, Norway, and globally. They transcend their histories of artistic and political censorship by using public art to envision a world freed from borders, war and violence.
