Project 12 + 1, a public arts initiative commissioned by Contorno Urbano invited Udane Juaristi aka Udatxo, as one of their rotating artists to paint a mural in l’Hospitalet de Llobregat (Barcelona). The result is a delightful new work, titled “Llum y Color” (Light and color) that is indefinitely a brilliant urban portrait created by the artist.

About the Mural

In this new artistic stage, Udane Juaristi’s main point of interest is the people she meets on the street, like this unknown guy walking on a sunny day. It is an urban portrait and a daily scene where light and color are the protagonists, a work where the face of the character and backpack stand out most strongly. Juaristi has always been interested in urban issues.
You can find the wall at Calle Rosalía de Castro, just opposite to the L1 metro exit for Torrassa, in L’Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona.

About Udane Juaristi (Udatxo)

Since graduating with a degree in Fine Arts in Bilbao and in Paris from the Superior National School of Fine Arts, Udane Juaristi (Udatxo) has participated in several exhibitions in different halls and galleries, as well as art fairs such as Arteando, Donostiartean, Inidia Art Fair, among others. She’s completed several murals in private and public spaces, and has painted live at an array of events and art festivals. Although she’s won awards for her work in competitions such as Goiart, Udane has always been interested in urban issues. She started painting bicycles, trams, old cars and urban scenes which progressed into painting characters. She seeks to reflect the movement of each individual, painting with loose strokes of bright colors. The artist usually works with mixed technique to achieve textures, as she’s is interested in reflecting in the work the different layers and effects so that each material is noticed and that the color has light and prominence.
