Filipino born, Italian artist Jerico Cabrera Carandang recently painted a new wall for “PUBBLICA” project, an urban art residence created by Kill The Pig for the city of Civita Castellana, Italy.
Jerico Cabrera Carandang spent three months in the city of Civita Castellana for an urban art residency. During this time he lived in close contact with the local community, meeting with them and carrying out numerous didactic activities with local students. He also created ten paintings and thirty sketches, which some of those were modeled in clay.
The final work is a mural, titled “Last Horizon”, painted on the facade of a school. The idea about the piece was born from the artist’s constant research of the possible coexistence between Nature and Man. The style reflects his already known research that create connections between the expressionism and the pictorial abstraction.
The work depicts a man with a surreal giant fruit head looking away from a cactus bush in what seems like intense heat.
